if i rebuild the bottom end, and use the 3.2 L motor con rods, is that setup safe to use with an ed xr6 head , does the piston actually poke out of the top of the block when its at TDC. I know this setup will give you more compression which means more power is there any other advantage for doin this upgrade

no.... it would smash the head to bits and any other head fitted to it.. THe long rod needs to be used with special pistons if you are using it in a 3.9
like the long rod 250 motors

so from reading them articles it seems like a better idea to use AU pistons and Rods because the pistons are lighter and the rod is longer, but does anyone know for sure if the au big end will bolt onto the crank for sure

wait a sec, aint the 3.2L engine smaller then 3.9L and therefore has a shorter stroke?

the measurements say it will, but i posted the question asking if anyone had actually done it, cos people had talked about it, and no-one could clarify it for sure.. so i didnt bother trying if i possibly wouldnt work

Had a much smaller crank. The longer rods are there to enable the use of the same block, so that the piston reaches the same height at TDC, if that made any sense.
Dan..

Not really, saves the mucking around of developing two different blocks. Although a smaller block might have made sense (less weight, better engine bay cooling).
I've often wondered how a worked 3.2L MPFI engine would go.
