Hey all,

Is there a difference between the 3.3L and 4.1L distributors in regards to the advance angle progression.

BTW: Whats the go with dialing in the mechanical distributors??? Is it because of the quality of fuel and how its changed over the years or is it because they wear out of shape???

Mostly because they wear out of shape. The drive shaft, the points, the centrifugal advance -- even the condensers also give up fairly regularly. Even using hollow-point points I had troubles with pitting, it was difficult to keep a decent gap. TGF electronic & breakerless ignition systems!
