3.9L to 4.0L conversion.

Here it is,

Atm, ea falcon s 5 speed, running a 3.9L mpfi. The next mod I want to do is upgrade to a 4.0 litre motor - smoother, more bullet proof, 10 more kws. $400 from a wrecker.

Ive asked around a few places and nobody has been certain that, 1 I can use my inlet manifold and computer, that 2 my computer will drill as much fuel into the motor as would a 4.0L ecu (for power) and that 3 the crow cam that I invested in will fit into the 4.0L motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Falcon S, MPFI, red, Resprayed with colour coded bumpers, motorvator extractors, walker hi-flow cat, 2 & 1/2 exhaust system, cold air intake using hi-flow K&N pod filter (heat sheilded), stage 3 crow cam with a vernier cam timing gear. Severly ported and polished EB 4.0L head, shimmed valve springs - compression ratio (9.5:1 +). Making 145rwkw!!

the inlet manifold im sure are the same and u will need to fin a EB 4.0ltr manual computer im afraid. As for the crow cam i dont know u can only try, it should work thaey are the same lenght and build.

I would just try the the 3.9mpi ecu that u have 1st...
why would u swap the manifolds just use the one that comes with the 4.0 or if its just the block and head u r getting then of couse use your 3.9mpi manifolds...

if u have to use the 4.0 ecu you will need a non smartlock EB2 ecu (only produced for 5 months - ie harder to find and next to imposible to find in 5spd man form).

I cant see how ford got an extra 9kw out of the 4.0lt its only an an extra 50cc..

your cam should be fine...
