Hi guys,

Just a question from a mate. He wants to know how hed go about dropin the 4.0L from his EB2 (Written off, smashed into from behind when parked) into his Cortina? Does the 4.0 I6 use the same engine mounts as the 250 xflow?

Any info on doing this conversion would be apreciated.

I don't know how the conversion is done, but it is possible. There are quite a few of them around adelaide.

Ahh yer I guess i should have said that. Its a TE Wagon.

Any ideas where we could get the info required. he doesnt want to start the conversion and find out 1/2 way through he needs to spend a whole lot of cash on somthing he hadnt figured on doing!

Do you think hed be better of floggin the EB to the wreckers and either workin the 250 xflow/Dropin in a 302 OR usin the EB as a donor vehicle to convert the Corty?

I doubt if the wreckers would give him more than a few hundred bucks for the EB, I'd be inclined to use the EB as a parts car andtry and sell of what you don't need (interior etc) to try and recoup some of the costs. Cortina should go pretty well with 4.0 I6, a visit to JMM or Herrod would make things even more interesting!

Maybe Dellow or Castlemaine Rod Shop can help out with some of the bits needed.

ive measured the rocker cover on the ea when i first got my cortina and it is the same lengh as the firewall to the radiator, and 6cyl cortinas allready had the firewall moved to accomadate the 4.1 six. lots and lots of work to make it fit!

I was at Jim Mock Motorsport the otherday, and they were doing just that. A 4.0L (Dev 5 I assume) being put into an old cortina, Brenden had to do little work to the sump but I believe he got it in fine. Perhaps call them for more info

whether it can fit who cares a 4.0l six with alloy head, less weight and 200kw+ at engine would go mighty quick in that beautiful body!

Id rather go with a 2v 250 pre crossflow and the right cam, 350 / 465 holley etc.
2v heads are fairly rare but well worth the $$$
We have one here in perth in a Xsomething UTE, that runs around the 14's i think NA.
Easier to do, same power is possible, and with the right exhaust, sound extremely close to a 289 V8
