Hi all,

A mate of mine just brought an XA coupe and is wanting to retrofit an injected 4.0 into it straight out of an e-series falcon. mounting wise without looking at either car I'm assuming it will bolt straight up. Am I wrong? And what kind of clearance problems will I have?

hi mate. depends with engine you use. ea/d or ef/l. but basically it will bolt up. if ea/d or if using ea/d style intake manifold use xg ute engine chassis/base mounts and ea/d or el engine mounts. . if using ef/l style intake use xa 6cyl chassis/base mounts and ea/d or el engine mounts, doing this will give you correct clearance at lhs shock tower. adapt xg ute radiator or modify your radiator water tubes to suit. use xg ute front sway bar to clear front of sump. modify trans x member to suit depending if auto or manual. other than that there is just a lot of little things to adapt and modify but nothing impossible or all that difficult. fit an e series wagon or ute diff and get 3.45 / 3.7 diff gears fitted and you'll be amazed at how well it will go. and it will cruise nice too. have fun. let me know if you get stuck. cheers.
