4 Qn - KC Laser...

Hi all,

My GF's KC laser is having a few issues with its carb, and the engine's getting a bit worn.

I've got a couple of potential solutions:

- Will an efi motor from a KH/KL laser fit in the KC?

- If not, an efi KC motor + efi conversion is around $600, but aren't common in wreckers...

Thanks,

Dave

Re: 4 Qn - KC Laser...

Probably just as easy to sell it and buy a good KF efi or something alike, swaping engine's would be costly and time comsuming compared to a good KF.

Re: 4 Qn - KC Laser...

As much as that is a good idea, there are two problems - my gf loves her little KC, and doesn't want another car currently, and she's also paying off debt at the moment, so can't afford another car.

As it is, I'd have to foot the money for the engine, and do the conversion myself, until she gets her tax cheque...

Do the KF/KH efi share the same engine mount positions as the KC, that's the main question. I'm happy to convert the wiring harnesses over, computer, sensors etc.

If not, then I guess it's hunting time for a KC TX3 efi motor...

Cheers,

Dave

The motor should fit, but you may need different drive shafts.
The KC/KE did come out with an Injected motor, or you could whack in a mazda donk.

Re: 4 Qn - KC Laser...

I guess this should be moved now that we have a 4 section again, but I'll continue...

There's a KC TX3 (efi) at a wreckers which (apparently) just needs a steering wheel to be driveable, and they want $1200 for the whole car. It has a couple of dings etc, how does that sit pricewise?

Cheers,

Dave
