my XG ute had its first drive since i bought it today, naturally i put it in power mode to give it some stick, in power mode it hit 4700rpm and wouldn't change into second unless i backed off a bit.
on econ mode it behaves how i think it should in power mode
i'll be happy to leave it this way but was wondering if theres something wrong?
ps LSD is too soft for me, need to get it fixed

Power mode i'm pretty sure will rev into the redline unless you back off. Its meant to keep the revs up.

its almost as if the ignition is breaking down or something(rev limiter?) as it wont go past 4700rpm red line is 5000. wont get a chance to hold it in first for a while to see if its a rev limit type issue?

Hey dude, If I understand you correctly your sayin in power mode the auto is holding gear at ~4700 instead of shifting and/or heading to red-line.
This being the case my guess would be your auto needs fluid and/or the bands replaced. Not reaching the redline is probably just due to lack of servicing seeing as you just bought it IE: needs plugs, air filter, injectors etc.

thanx guys i think this could be a trans servicing prob, the fluid is quite dark so i'll be doin that first
