I know that redline make a manifold.. but does anyone know about the cable and linkage system? I think that the V8 cable is required.. slightly longer.. same as if a 350 holley is fitted.
ive got a 465 oddball on my 302. Vac sec's. In my opinion you should just stick with a 2 brl. But you probably would have to use the V8 cable and linkage system im guessing.
FOR SALE: 1980 XD, Recently rebuilt 9" disc diff, with 3.25 gears, toploader with hurst shifter kit, 302C, DBA slotted and cross driled rotors, Fairmont interior with modified centre console, jellybean mags, reasonably good condition, driveline will handle 400+rwhp PM FOR PICS asking $3500
I used to have a 4 barrell 600 or 650 vacuum secondaries holley on my old xc falcon 250.I remeber the aftermarket linkages at the time were not design to well.I think you will need a 390 cfm 4 barrel holley. It is all you need for a 250.
My four barrel ran ok but there was a lack of people to trust with the car back then.
They would sell me something and then ask me if it worked because they did not have a clue.I remember getting my head done at a local workshop with bronze guides and bullcrap and it made no difference.
Is your car a 250 2v motor?
i had a 250 holley i think it was (was a 2barrel ) on my EFI headded and gas grind camed x-flow in my XF and it went pretty hard, was too long ago for me to remember specifics, but it wouldnt have needed a 4 barrel for sure
I had a 450 Holley on the 250 in my XF ute. Went pretty hard. Redline sell a linkage kit for about $40. Money well spent. Otherwise I think the XE v8 linkage throttle cable works. I'd go the redline kit though, it's designed for the job.
Just make sure you go for fairly conservative jeys and get the thing properly tuned otherwise the carby might be a little excessive.

The main reason for the 4bbl is i wanna run N2O in the ol' girl..
a.. the nos kits mainly come in 4bbl for wetplate systems, and i on a tight budget, so nozzle method not an option.
b.. the donk is gonna be a full build with 200 rods ect.. so she'll pull, just a bit worried about running out of juice at the top end revs.
im sure redline would have a 4barrel manifold, i had a redline 2 barel manifold when i had my ute, and i seem to recall looking at a 4bbl manifold when i picked mine up
I have used 650 double pumpers on heavly worked 250's before.. One of the best carbs i ever used was the 780 cfm Quadrajet as fitted to holden v8's.
Use an XD/XE v8 cable very easy to use, then just use the bracket from the old 2 barrle webber, and mount to one of the bolt up points on the carby, pretty easy stufff

Redline make both 2 and 4 barrels at $260 for the 2 barrel and $340 for the four barrel. There are heaps of 2 barrels manifolds on ebay around the $100 mark but NO four barrels.
As I'm about to do my XF ute I'm tossing up which way to go but a 465 on a four barrel ,a cam with about 515/525 lift and 220"/230" degrees at 50thou would do the trick but must have at least 10 to 1 comp to get some good torque out of it as a smaller cam carb combo will match it for torque but not quite in hp and useable revs after 5500rpm.But that cam carb and comp will be fairly cranky on the street!
