Question 4L - 3.9L heads

Will a 4L head bolt straight onto a 3.9L block from an EA?
I am looking at getting another motor for my EA and making it a bit tougher with things like full balance, new cam, ported head, HM headers extractors and 2.5" exhaust and kn air filter. would i be better off fitting a 4L in and working that as i only have a 3 speed auto?
Any idea's to get more power out of a 3.9 would be of help...

Thanks...

yea, a 4.0L head will bolt onto the 3.9L block.... if yer engine is not shot (rings, bearings, etc) then just whack a worked head on the block and u should be happy :)

If your going to go to the trouble of getting another engine, then your best bet would be to grab an EF/L engine. They are pretty well balanced, and will be fine to 5500rpm.

On the other hand, with some head work, cam, zorst, the 3.9 can haul some butt.

thanks guys. I think i'll stick with the 3.9 cause its cheaper to buy from the wreckers (well here anyway!) and just strip it and rebuild, replacing rings and all that.
I was looking at just doing cam, xorst, ports, mayby bore out 20 thou or so, intake and maybe oneday blow it.
Thanks for your input guys...
