Can I put a 4l motor into a 3.9 l EA with no probs. Using the 3.9 mpfi etc.

Yeah it should be no problems, the only real thing that needs to be changed when a 4.0 is put into a car with an existing 3.9 engine is that the fuel pump needs to be changed as the 3.9 pump doesnt deliver enough fuel to cope with a 4.0 at full throttle.

Yeah I had the same question. How difficult is it to put in an EF/EL 4litre and what legal things do I need to worry bout. Also, just wonderin what kind of dollars would I be looking at when buying a second hand EF/EL engine???

ef xr6 engine $1950 from all panels and parts.. that wouldnt be a bad conversion :)
for a plain engine you should find them for around 1000-1500 if you look around some wreckers.

All Panels and Parts are a very good wreckers. I got my EL Ghia leather interior from them, their engine price doesnt include any radiator flushing, etc... Putting in an EF/EL engine needs to have the computer changed, Id imagine it is a lot more stuffing around the actually put it in. But as with anything, it can be done.
