Re: 600rwhp Turbo ED Project

I tried that little blower trick already. Not worth it at all. It cost me a grand to buy and fabricate brackets and for less increase than the MPFI conversion i'd say don't bother.

Re: 600rwhp Turbo ED Project

The other cheap supercharger option is an Eaton M90.
This unit is found on the 3.8L mustang and the 3.8L GM V6 and 4L jaguar.
These units can be bought secondhand from the USA quite cheaply.

The biggest problem is getting it to spin at the correct speed. replacing the pulley on the Eanton M90 is very expensive. reference: http://www.autospeed.com/cms/article.html?&A=1552

http://www.forcedairtech.com.au/ Make a kit for the I6 which uses the Yella Terra 1500 which is a ripoff of the Eaton M90. Buying parts from these guys will save you lots of time.

But in the end I doubt they can do much more than 300hp at the engine without an intercooler. water spray may squeeze a little more power out.

I havent run any sums but id say turbotranas setup (without the EMS 8860) would be cheaper than above aand have more power.

Re: 600rwhp Turbo ED Project

I also own a Factory Supercharged VT Commodore that mainly just sits in the garage as its a pretty boring car to drive (have done less than 500km in it in the last year). Its not worth modifying cause the Eaton supercharger is too inefficient and it would be cheaper and I would get more power out of it turboing it. The thing is the Ford I6 or any inline 6 is better for a single turbo setup IMO.

In my 20 odd years in modifying cars I found very early in life that you shouldn't do stuff on the cheap as it will cost you more in the long term and you will be disappointed with the end result. But I have also seen people spend heaps of money on their turbo projects getting so called "professionals" doing turbo conversions with far from satisfactory work done and poor end results. Its an industry where reputation and demonstrated results mean alot.

Attached are some more photos of dump pipe for wastegate, thermo fans, lucas 550cc injectors, MSD thats going on soon and the LPG iridium plugs that are factory gapped at 0.8mm. For high boost (15psi+) the 1.1mm gapped plugs are a little to much

Re: 600rwhp Turbo ED Project

Here is a picture of the Turbo Tranas engine bay. Also a digital pic of a kodac pic of the turbo and turbo manifold on the side of the aluminium headed 202. Note aluminium flywheel. This turbo motor has all the fruit and has the capability of 700hp with the T66 turbo and the injector and fuel pump flow I have at the moment but the block is known to crack at 500+ horsepower. But this was in the days of Carburater/turbos and in those days they had alot of problem with fuel delivery and detonation, something we have alot more control over today. The starfire rods and the ACL HQ racing pistons are very strong. Everything is durable provided you dont detonate under high load, something I have never done.

Re: 600rwhp Turbo ED Project

this could possibly be a good mod 4 yours if it would be safe...as im thinkin of doin a similar setup to yours and am thinkin if i went non-intercooled, maybe i could put a big injector in front of the compressor wheel, to cool it and provide the motor with a bit more fuel, run the injector on a seperate comp (possibly boost referenced??), prob the jaycar ones. below are the good links

DIGITAL PULSE ASJUSTER -can control ANY type of solenoid!
http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productVie...=&SUBCATID=347

HAND CONTROLLER for DIGITAL ADJUSTERS
http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productVie...=&SUBCATID=347

and i also saw this sounds pretty neat-DIGITAL FUEL ADJUSTER
http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productVie...=&SUBCATID=347

the intercooling is the only part i am having concerns about, as a decent front mount will need a aftermarket bumper and complex/expensive pipework. i would prefer to put the money towards a better setup if possible, i only want to be running about 6-8psi.

after ive sorted what intercooling option to take, i would be very interested in buying one of your manifolds. please PM me if this is possible

Re: 600rwhp Turbo ED Project

Have you thought about a water to air intercooler they're a lot easier to plumb in
