lol Dan i think my motor would seriously blow up with a turbo!
Yeah I saw the Jim Mock street fighter engine... that would be very nice but just looking at other (cheaper) options as well first to see if theres anything else people have done. I won't have the money to do anything for a while yet, just sussing it out. G&D Performance could be a good idea.

there is quite a bit you can do to the 4.0l. these include a full ACL race series rebuild kit, balanced and blueprinted bottem end, arp rod bolts, port and polished head, cam etc. it all really depends on how much you want to spend.

like John_xr6 said, that's the best path to go and use the AU headgasket (this way you don't have to skim the head, just in case you want to go turbo later). ACL is quite good but pay special attention to the crank and caps, make sure they get bananced properly as the I6 has inherent balancing problesm over 5.000 rpm. Don't go crazy with the head porting, it's quite thin in places and inexperienced shops can hit water, or it will crack soon after, i say just clean up the ports and port match the intake and exhaust to the head. It's cheap to get the bigger intake valves from an XR and change the springs

Who has had their 6cylinder engine rebuilt with performance bits in VIC?
How much did it cost you?
Where did you get it done?
What performance bits were put in?
My engine is nearing the 300,000km mark and in need of a rebuild soon!
Hi, my young brother recently had some engine work done at G&D performance in Cranbourne. headwork was done by Airflow Dynamics.
if you’re not sure what you want to do with mods, give Matt or Glen a call and book in a free dyno run and take it from there. Tell them you are a FF member..
Also Hamo's lives in Hoppers Crossing if you want to go for a squirt in his car send me a PM, I will arrange for you to meet up with him...you are only around the corner..
good luck with your quest for speed.
free dyno run?
what did the G&D head cost? (mines stuffed :( )
John if you are thinking of doing Mods and you need help yes G&D will give you a free run on the dyno its calerbrated by dyno dynomatics on regular intervals, so you know what you have got at the wheels..before you spend any money...need to ring make a booking for that and ask Glen about the head i am not even sure what they done to it..
if you have mates that have had mods done else where and they are worried about bad performance or crappy Dyno numbers..they can have a free dyno run also but you need to book...there trying to build good customer relations and are interested in the i6.
