I am contemplating replacing the plugs/leads on my carby XF. I had a look and the ignition coil is to the right of the fuel pump. How in hell do i get to it to change the HT lead?. Hopefully i wont have to unbolt/undo anything!
its farkin hard but it is possible to get to it make sure the car is cold or you WILL get a sore burnt hand i want to change my coil to a GT40, but i have decided nah!!! coz its too hard to get to
Extreme_2020,
To get to the blasted thing, you have to hoist your car up or at least put it on stands. (you don't have to, it just makes it a heap easier.) And V8Uteman351 is right the engine has to be cold.
OK, but you need small hands and arms to get to the coil without raising the car somewhat. It looks like I'm gonna have to do it soon as well. I've put a post up about my igniton problems. Thanks for your advice Birdie. I'm at school/work and can't try a new coil till tonite or tomorrow.
I suppose i've got small hands/arms, try replacing a coil on an NA Fairlane, it took me half a day, the hardest thing I found was the condenser, My XD is on LPG I've removed all polution gear runs much better, alot smoother and more responsive.
I hope the coil fixes your problem.
