heres the car:

heres the problem: CFI, Pre Smartlock and stuffed 4 speed auto

The engines got 150,000kms on the clock and a compression test showed the engines still reasonably healthy so
heres the plan and the parts:

-MPFI Conversion
-MPFI Manifold,Fuel Rail, Injectors,TPS, ISC and air temp sensors
-Pre-Smartlock EB Manual ECU
-EB MPFI Manifold Loom
-MPFI A/C Compressor Bracket

-EF/EL xr6 head with mild port/polish

-Wade Cam 1004>112 or 110 + Vernier Gear

-Extractors

-2.5 in Exhaust

-Pod Filter

-EF/EL Thermos

-5 speed manual conversion

-Fit 3.7 or 3.9s to EB GT diff allready installed on car

QUESTIONS

1. Do i require any other parts for the MPFI conversion

2. Unsure whether to go for the Wade 110 or 112,Id like the lumpiest cam possible without making it too hard to drive in city traffic?

3.Unsure whether to go the 3.7s or the 3.9s. With 17" rims will the 3.9s make first gear to short and revs at 100km/h too high?

I thought the EB GT diff would already be 3.23 or 3.45 so why change it and LSD as well.

Why not consider a BBM conversion instead of standard MPFI manafold.

sorry i should have mentioned that the dude i bought the diff off just had it reco'd with 2.77

i was going to do the bbm conversion but ive read other posts about problems with pinging when ea/eb ecu's have been used and id have to convert it to smartlock to be able to use the ef/el/au ecu and im not sure how big a task that is

Mate that car looks grousse!! Talk about inspiration for me EA, that is beaatiful!!
Sorry I cant help much with most of your mods as I have little experiece with the MPFI conversion (mine is S Pak so already has MPFI).

I am also considering the EF/EL XR6 head change, and it seems to be relatively straight forward.

I could go for the 112 cam and 3.9 gearset, but I dont mind my car being a bit of a bitch to drive

My 4.11:1 diff is pretty out there but I love it :)

Once again that car is one sexy beast!

Thanks mate, im dieing that i cant drive her anymore coz i still got 6 months left on my licence suspension so i thought i'd do some mods while she's got no-one to drive her

I lost my licence for 6 months when i was 18, so I re-built my 2L corty, stripped down and built back up, the only advice i give is, don't think you have plenty of time, I did, and found myself putting the interior in and some other bits, and working my ass off 1 week before I got my licence back so I would have something to drive.

i'm not big on knowing things, but with all the stuff you're doing to that engine wouldn't you come off cheaper if you got a new ef/el or even ea/eb mpfi engine in it? i mean if you do all the work yourself maybe it comes as cheaper, but the parts will still kill you.

also, maybe consider giving the engine a head gasket change while you're at it, and if you do go ahead and use an ef/el head, maybe polish it a little more for a better compression ratio.

my suggestion would be to polish it until it's pinging badly on optimax, but it's smooth on unleaded...

I agree with Dellboy, why not use an EL BBM?
The EL computer will plug straight into an EBII loom (Smartlock) and you will need to add 5 wires to the plug for thermos, BBM valve, and the knock sensor, which it will do without quite happily.
Or, if you like, the entire EL dash bolts in easily, but that's up to you anyway

I can send you the pinout sheets for the EL/EA computer plugs if you like?

You serious - a BBM conversion is as simple as bolting the manifold on, and plugging the EL computer in?
gtfalcon351's car is pre-smartlock but so he has a different wiring loom right? So to use a BBM manifold without hassles he would have to change the whole wiring loom over and that can't be easy!

No, not the whole loom. Just the dash. An EB serII dash will cost 5/8 of bugger all, and will come with Smartlock.

It's actually quite easy, particularly as he's pulling the dash anyway in order to do the manual conversion (i.e. change pedalbox).
