I've got an EF fairmont and i was told that there is a 60mm restrictor near the airbox, some form of a bottle neck with the standard ducting. can someone post a pic of this restrictor and how to remove it? is it as simple as changing the ducting?
If someone is trying to tell you that the bellmouth in the top of the lid is restrictive, tell where to go, the EF airbox with the bellmouth is the highest flowing airbox around (well up to AU).
Nah it is restrictive hey, I read an article on here somewhere where they tested it. The best thing to do is to replace the restrictive bellmouth with a custom non-tapered one so that it still draws air from the centre of the filter. From memory it goes from 80mm at the entrance to 60mm at the bellmouth intake. I simply cut mine off and noticed a very slight improvement.
Eventually I will use a bit of 80mm pipe but until then....
Keep the bellmouth, but get rid of the pipe between the box and teh intake.
the EF airbox is the highest flowing of all the falcon lids.
Or you could put a pod filter in the airbox and get the better flow and the advantage of the better breathing pod.
