To all those people who think the 3.9L is a dud...
By now I'm sure a lot of you are aware of my personal crusade to get power out of the 3.9L.
After being told over and over again by engine builders and performance shops that the only way to get power out of an EA is to put a 4.0L in it, i decided to go prove a point...
All I can say is BRING ON THE NEXT HEATHCOTE MEET!
Re: To all those people who think the 3.9L is a dud...
Damn thats one powerful EA. Good work can I ask... how did you do it?
A friend just had his 3.9lt rebuilt in the old EA. He has flogged the thing to hell since he has had it im wondering if he caused any damage? The thing is preety powerless and got raped by a ef. Maybe just a dodgy rebuild or a very very dodgy run in (only has about 2000km)

Is that dev kit at all?
Cheers mate
No JMM parts have ever been (or will ever be) near my car, so no, it's not a Dev kit. lol
The basics, bottom end rebuild using acl race series gear, balanced and blueprinted, slightly worked head (i believe i can get a fair bit more power out of it still), wade billet cam, unichip, malpassi fuel reg, EF BBM, HM Headers, 2.5" exhaust and high flow cat.

Do you mind if I asks roughly what this sort of treatment costs? As in how it compares to the old dev kits cost wise as those things are preety pricey!
I don't think ill be racing any ea's in melbourne.

Well, i had it all done over a long period of time, so it's kinda hard to work out... but here goes:
Rebuild - $1800 (mates rates)
EF BBM - $200ish
Head Work - $600ish (i paid more because i worked up a second head then changed them over)
Wade Cam - $350ish
Unichip -$1250
Fuel Reg - $150
Headers - $140 Second Hand (costs about $500 new)
Cat - $250
Exhaust - $200
It would've cost a little bit more than that overall, as there were a few little things along the way that i'm forgetting about.

Thanks, mate...
I'm running a Wade 1521a (ground as 112 phase for some more midrange pull).
The Unichip is one of the best things I've ever done to my car. It costs a bit because i need to retune after each mod (but any kind of chip is going to be the same), but it makes the car so much more driveable...
