First, let me say. Im not very technically minded - my car work is restricted to whatever the gregory's manual is able to show me how to do.

I have an XF S 5 speed manual with carby engine.
I want to keep it manual.

Would it be possible to get an AU engine with all the sensors necessary etc in there? Preferrably set up with dedicated gas.

Would I have to have engine mounts all changed?
Would it have to be engineered to be legal?
Could I do it for a few grand - ignoring the lpg install factor?

Appreciate any info, as I dont know where to start otherwise.

Look at the setup with the XG ute. basically an XF with the 4.0L....
Is possible, but I'd be looking for an XG donor car, to help with the basic bits and pieces needed. Then add the AU engine to that.

Do u suggest trying to find an XG ute being wrecked?
What would I be looking to get from the XG?

Cheaper to find a complete wreck and strip what you need and sell what you don't;
Cross member, engine mounts, dash, wiring for the 4.0L, radiator, A/C, complete 4.0L, all sensors... you might be able to score one already on gas.

Hmm... ok, so the key really is if I can find a cheap XG then hey!

The XB ute running the 4.0L 5sp looked like a cheaper way to go; Do you have any mates to help you with it?

Where abouts in Aust are you?

I moved to Junee, which is near Wagga Wagga NSW recently, and I dont know anyone here at all.

With that ute - would there be much improvement over what I have now? What's the difference between the EB 4.0ltr OHC motor without EFI and whatever the engine is that I have?

there are a couple of people on here who live around the Wagga area.

It would be an improvement (looking at the uteman's version), but what do you want to achieve with your car?
