Hi guy's just found an oil leak under the car seems to be coming from the middle front half of the motor maybe sump gasket but still not sure??? does anyone know if oil leaks are a common thing on the AU's it's done about 69,000km's so a bit early i think to be having leaks. probably not a warranty issue so i guess i will be fixing it myself.

Check the sump plug, sounds like its around that area and they have been known to leak before.

Mate have a look from under the car and check the gasket of the timing cover..

doesn't look to be the timming cover the whole underneath of the oil pan is covered in oil, hard to see what it is.

I would suggest that it may be your harmonic balancer seal. Not hard to replace, but you need to remove the rdiator

if it is really wet, check the oil pressure switch hasn't failed

Racecraft where exactly is the oil preasure switch? how can i check the harmonic balancer seal is pretty crowded at the front their?

I know it's crowded there, but it can be seen if it's leaking, as there is generaly a mess on the crossmember below the front of the engine, and you can often see that the oil is being blown back under the engine. If there is a splash guard at the front of the engine, underneath, between the front bumper and the engine, you can also take that off and have a look. Sometimes it gets messy over the alternator too.

Oops. I forgot, the oil pressure switch is on the passenger side of the engine under the inlet manifold slightly past half-way along, towards the rear, and about 40mm from the top of the BLOCK. it can really only be seen from under the car. It looks like a large short bolt with wires coming off it.
