Au Tickford chip

I've bought an AU 1 F'mont with Tickford wheels and suspension. Would it be worthwhile getting a Tickford chip and what sort of cash would i be talking. I know stuff all about this but thought it may add to resale as well.

Re: Au Tickford chip

No no no is your answer.

Unless you have the compression of the head and the cam and exhaust to match it is not worth spending the money.

I did actually look into this myself some 10 yrs ago when i had an ed.

Cheapest and best option back then was chiptorque chip, and it gave good results , but i had exh, ext, cai, diff ratio change etc.

what do you have to spend and what performance do you want.

unichip is around $1300.

buy the way the tickford chip is not sold as a chip but the whole computer.

There is no such thing as a Tickford chip, they use different EEC programming. You could look at something like a chiptorque chip which would cost around $600 , they will be an improvement over stock but results are mixed. IMO start with some extractors and a good exhaust then if you still want more then maybe go for a chip and cam package.

Re: Au Tickford chip

Like the others have said, go for a few other basic mods before you go for the chip.

If you wanna suss out the chips still check out these links.
