The coolant colour in my XR6 plastic tank reservoir looks a rusty brown, what is the colour of the coolant supposed to be, green or that red/pink? Car is 2 1/2 years old and I think may need coolant change,

Hi, I'm no expert, but I would expect it to be as you said either green or red. A flush and change of coolant aint gunna hurt your vehicle. I did mine the other day and replaced all hoses and clamps, and thermostat just to be on the safe side. Don't forget, when you flush your cooling system make sure heater control is on hot to open valves. Cheers.

flush it now and get the green stuff. Brown is VERY bad and the pink crap isnt much better. Green is good!

Pretty sure the standard Ford stuff (its Motorcraft branded but thats Ford's own brand anyway) is red/pink in colour.

However, Green is the colour of choice for our AUII, and never had any issues with it whatsoever. Its pushing 3yrs old too.

DONT PUT PINK SHIT IN!!! Only use the green stuff, the pink stuff will chew through your hoses and Orings. You want the ford R1-32. I beleive they have stopped making them in 5 litre bottles now though, instead they make them with the exact amount of concentrate, in a 3.6 litre bottle. The stuff is now BRANDED as motorcraft in a white bottle, not in the black ford bottle like it used to.

I think for memory mine is the rusty brown colour aswell, it's the stuff that's been in since I bought it, is this stuff ok, I presume it's genuine Ford coolant as it's been in there since I bought it.

get nulon concentrated coolant about 40 dollars for 5 litres but definately worth the money. change it every year. of maybe twice if u love ur car.

it shouldn't be rusty brown, it should be GREEN. It's that colour becsue it's been in there for so long. He hasn't changed his coolant as Ford say 2 years for brake fluid, 3 years for coolant, reguardless of KM.

No I personally haven't touched it, I just take it to my dealer for the free scheuled sevice,which is now finshed,how often do you need to change it?.
