auii xr6 ute speed limiter

I have been reading around a few places that the auii xr's dont have a speed limiter. Yet, when I tried (private road ) my auii xr6 ute manual cut out at around 186km. Whats the go, why does mine cut out, even though it is an xr6?

Re: auii xr6 ute speed limiter

It would be because the utes had a very long tailshaft that isnt too happy over 180, where sedans were a bit shorter and ok for higher speed..

Thanks for the reply, peranaxr8, thats quick service!!

Yeah I started to get worried when the ute started to rattle and vibrate around 180!! Not to worry though, I would have only went that fast once to see what it could do.

Re: auii xr6 ute speed limiter

hehe - chat to mal woods and get a 2 piece tail shaft set-up, then a chiptorque chip to remove the limiter and your laughing (on private roads at least)

Re: auii xr6 ute speed limiter

hehehe nah Im not into the insanely high speeds, more into the insanely high acceleration, so I could find some better things to spend my money on! But i am leaning towards a chiptorque chip (but keeping the limiter, for obvious reasons)...

Re: auii xr6 ute speed limiter

All LWB even TL50 were speed limited to save the tailshaft from destroying itself the car and you.

I think BA XR6 Utes now have two piece tailshaft so time to trade up.

Re: auii xr6 ute speed limiter

Correct me if I am wrong guys I don't have a BA ute and don't crawl under all of the ones I see in shopping centres car parks but I have seen one BA XR8 ute with what I though looked like a centre bearing and a two piece tailshaft.

Was I dreaming?

It was pretty low and I was crawling under it in a shopping centre car park feeling a bit foolish like an amateur car thief so I didn't hang around.

Re: auii xr6 ute speed limiter

The ba Xr series only have a one piece tail shaft. But the ba persuit ute has a the two piece to handle the extra power
