Hey all my friend just purchased a BA XT I6 with 30k on the clock. Today the car started to splutter, revs going up and down when he put the car from drive into park? Didnt do it all the time, just sometimes.

What could be the prob?

I vaguely recall this being a problem on some early build cars.

Dealer should be able to fix it by reflashing the computer if it's not something major...

I had the same/similar problem,

I know if I put Premium petrol in (95-98 RON), it will splutter and stall and carry on.. run like a bugga.

Put normal 91 ron back in, sweet no worries mate.. awesome.
my brothers AU has exactly the same problem, put Premium petrol in, it sometimes stalls at the lights (as you got to pull up) and idles rough and erratic.

that being said, my coil failed at 20 000 k's this was also causing similar problems, and then also my Manifold/exhaust got a hole in it, and made the car not run right (23 litres per 100 k's !! GRRR) but all fixed under warranty so no big issue.

I don't know if any of those are you problem,
but if your running premium fuel, I suggest switch back to normal fuel.
this might help, always run good brand fuel though, steer clear of the woolies and el cheapo stuff. It's not about the RON (octane) it's about the purity.

quite a few ba owners (before 02/03) have had this problem, as stated it is covered under warranty just take it back.

Usually reflashing or replacing the vct sensors fixes the problem.

I look at aroung 30 ba falcons a week .And ive heard this problem a few times must be teething problems with the first run of the car
