There may be a simple way to make the normal exhaust muffler last about as long as the car.
Silicone rubber is a very good adhesive and will withstand high temperatures. The silicone sealer can be thinned with mineral turps. {Which can also be used to remove silicone}
Someone could provide a service which first filled the new muffler with a silicone solution, drained the muffler and then forced air through it to evaporate all the turps. Could not cause any problems, but some may be blown out over time. Needs someone to try it.
Put a coating inside the tailpipe as far as possible with a swab and it has stayed there for years. Always looks new, if a little black.
