first would be to find out why it has a 4.0l and not a 3.9l like most other EA's.

And once you have established what engine it is, check the head gasket.

Re: Buying a falcon 6

It'll leak from the timing case and rocker cover, so I wouldn't be too fussy about those.

Check for coolant stains near the head, milky coolant or oil. Check the colour of the transmission fluid, if it's an auto you want something that looks kinda red (not brown like mine).

Ask the seller when it did it's last head gasket. If he tells you never, steer clear on one of two counts. Either a; it's about to blow or b; the seller is full of it.

Then try figure out why it's got an extra .1 of a litre.

Re: Buying a falcon 6

Yeah that's good advice, I'd spend a bit more time checking around for an EB series 2. Better suspension, better diff, 4.0, HEAPS better interior, better 4 speed.

I'm not biased, honestly!

Re: Buying a falcon 6

I started with a EA - got sick of spending money trying to make it go better.
My advice

Save up for a Ef XR6 5spd

You WONT regret it!
