Probably been done before... but i was wondering what sort of cam to put in my ED XR6. Its already got extractors, exhaust, head redone and decked, pod and CAI. I was after something a bit lumpier than standard xr6 spec. What do you recommend?

Thanks. Yeah I was thinkin either the dev 5 or a wade 112. How do thise two compare?

if you got a manual you can get a wade 1521a without having to chip it. theres a thread somewhere that tells you how to do it. and thats a mega lumpy ass cam. stage 4 i think.

Nice!Unfortunately its auto. Would that cam work with a stally?

i would use a wade 1004 , because its an auto id go either 112 lobe seperation or 114, i have a 112 in mine and when it was an auto it ideled in gear ok....
These cams cost around 120 bucks, which jmm can not match with there cams being 3-4 times dearer.
Results are deff worth while and with youre 3.45's it will respond good

Yeah I'm leaning towards the wade with the 112 separation. When i get it in i'll post and let you all know how it goes. Thanks for the help

well u would want to like the dev5 more because it cost 4.2 times the amount.
for the cost of the dev 5 u can get the wade 1521a and a set of pacy pipes... but i know he already has pipes ....

is the dev 5 a new billet cam???

the only reason the 1521a was a pig is it must of had tighter lobe centers than the dev 5, was it 108 lobe center or somthing?....

So its 490, for a regrind man thats crazzy

#17 ·
so why was it a pig? id love to throw one in my xr6 even though its auto.

#19 ·
u can not measure lobe seperation or duration with accuracy.... if they were similar then they would idle the same..... the wade must of been wilder as far as valve over lap goes, my baby wade 1004 idles like a stocky..... well sorta

This is all very helpful - I was leaning towards getting the Wade 1521a not only because it was there fattest cam, but it was originallly designed for turbo applications (hence I wont have to get a custom grind for my turbo from someone that doesnt really know what they are doing)
You say the Wade was a "pig"; do you mean when it idled? How did it drive just cruising along?
The only problem I have is jmm wants $1000 for a bloody regrind cam kit, when i can get the kit (this is inc. springs) for about $600 from Wade!
