I have both cams and I am trying to work out which is the largest duration cam, EF or EL(both non XR6). How much better than the stock EA are EF or EL??

same. XR has more duration. 4deg on the inlet and 8deg on the exhaust.

EF and EL the same. EA is a better cam. 4 extra degrees duration and 0.13mm lift on the inlet. Exhaust the same. Will find out and post for you later !!!

Uhhhh EA is better than EF?

EA 3.9 Cam
Intake opens at 17* BTDC at 0.01mm Lobe lift
Intake closes at 63* ABDC at 0.07mm Lobe lift
Exhuast opens at 65* BBDC at 0.07mm Lobe lift
Exhuast closes at 11* ATDC at 0.10mm Lobe lift

EF stock I6 Cam
Intake opens at 16* BTDC at 0.045mm Lobe lift
Intake closes at 68* ABDC at 0.085mm Lobe lift
Exhuast opens at 62* BBDC at 0.053mm Lobe lift
Exhuast closes at 18* ATDC at 0.085mm Lobe lift

The lobe lift isn't that much more.

accordin to those specs, the ef cam is bigger, its timings are measured at a higher lift

Why not get one reground to a better spec?

I read on the forum somewhere that the ED XR6 cam is nearly the same as a EF. I also read on this forum that the EF cam goes better than the EA cam ( and I dont believe everything I read). Yes the easiest thing is to get a reground wade 1004 but I want the engine to be as fuel efficient as possible so sticking with factory cams is the idea. Although the EA is stated to be biggest, cam specs I have just got from waggot "seem" to indicate that the EL is the largest cam???? Anyway it looks like its neither much here or there.

Yeah, stock EF cam is pretty much the same as an ED XR6 cam. I've got one in my car, the difference was noticable.
