which model XR6? if BA .. not too overly hard, but i'd rather trade it in for a XR6T, but if pre BA XR6 ...

your are better off using a written off XR6T, as you need evereything

mainly wiring loom and ecu, etc

however biggest prob will be engine mounts ... but yes it has been done before

The engine mounts I thought would be the same. However he would need to put the new computer it. The problem is the comp controls the Dash, imobiliser/alarm and a few other functions, I am guessing the wiring would be the hardest part, I dont know if the older parts would be compatible with the new computer.

just get yourself an aftermarket ecu to save the computer hassles, he'd probably want to hot it up anyway so doin something to a std ecu would have been necessary
