I was wondering if anyone had any info on swapping the stock carby on a XF UTE to a 350 holly. Also, is it wise to run gas through it even if i use petrol the majority of the time. The ute is already converted to gas aswell.

cheers.

if it's already on gas i've been told countless times to get a dedicated throttle body type mixer. If you use petrol more than I think redline make a manifold for the 350, costs about 300ish. AFAIK duel fuel through one of them is fine, straight gas isn't a problem either.

Getting the linkage happening is a bit tricky also...can someone confirm this though??

A mate of mine swapped the weber for a 500 holley, but it was an aspired engine, and may give more fuel than necessary to a stock engine. maybe not. BUT, the 500 is meant to bolt straight onto the stock twin barrel manifold :O. gas would be the way to go. Also, how much is it to install gas on the XF twin barrel weber?

nah Gas Research - coming straight from like the only gas specialist in Canberra (I think) - is an absolute b!+ch on street cars, apparently there is an Impco gas throttle body that bolts straight to the factory manifold which works better.

But BACK TO THE ORIGINAL QUESTION, for a stock / potentially worked 250 just about any holley will work - heard stories of 650's doing the thing with little more than a cam and extractors, just been tuned REALLY well so it doesn't run like a dog.

Saying that, I have also heard that the original Weber will flow as much as a 350 so why bother

Unless heavily worked the weber will cook just fine , its plenty large enough

Cheers for that guys,

The only reason why I was wondering about the converstion because when I was in the army my old man was driving around my car on gas everywhere. Now he reckons that my jets a blocked, I thought that sounded reasonable enough, but when I looked at my throttle cable the other day, It looked slack, and there is a section on the cable that the outside plastic has worn or melted away and the bare metal wire on the inside is exposed. So is it possable that my throttle cable is just loose which is just restricting acceleration? The bloody thing doesnt go into secondorys anymore, and I used to be able to feel that. now its just an old mans car again. If I have to get a recon carby however, is there any performance boosts i can give it while im spending money in that area?

I live in Adelaide mate, but i manged to get it for $1250, everything new, with a 65 litre tank. I can get 300ks out of full tank of gas which useally costs me 25-30 bucks. bloody beats paying 60 - 70 bucks a week, hey.
