Casper Mobile is going on the Dyno

Well, as some of you may know I had some issues at the last Heathcote day that left my XR6 very down on power. At the time I suspected bad fuel...and still do to a degree. Since then I have been running only on premium and have just reset my computer to relearn it all.
Out of curiosity I took it out for a run and did a standing 0-100 last night. Although it felt better I still think it is down on power, especially in the low revs. Based on Wheels etc the XR6 VCT should be able to pull sub 9 second 0-100, mine was closer to 10 seconds I think. Obviously without correct measureing devices it's impossible to tell so I decieded to get it checked on a Dyno. This will happen on March 21st. Now, as it's never been on a dyno I have no idea what power I should expect or what the graph should look like. If anyone has dynoed a stock AU XR6 AUTO and in particular an AU XR6 VCT auto I would love to know what results you got and have a look at your graph for comparison purposes.
I am expecting somewhere between 120 and 130rwkws. Is this reasonable?

Sounds a tad optimistic Casper, but you never know good luck.

Considering the VCT "should" be 172fwkw I would think that 120rwkw is low, even for an auto. That would be a loss of 52kw or over 30% of power.

I believe an AU XR8 is around 130rwkw, so i was thinking a 6 should be lower.

Re: Casper Mobile is going on the Dyno

Just found an old post from JC when he dynoed his stock auto VCT. 117rwkw so I guess I'll revise to 115-120rwkw.

Looking for problems. This is a serious look at the curve. It seems WELL down on power so I need to find out for sure. Once I get the results I'll see what needs to be done.
I think the top end is ok but the first 3000rpm suck!

Re: Casper Mobile is going on the Dyno

It'll be interesting to find out what's causing it...

My experiences with getting cars sorted on dynos are that it is expensive, but the results are very good!

Re: Casper Mobile is going on the Dyno

Here is a graph for you to compare. http://www.profixauto.com.au/xr6_ute.htm

I don't know that a gut feel that your engine is down on power is a good reason to go to get a dyno run. They all vary and you have to take them as tuning tool before and after stuff to get value from them.

1/4 mile times are usually a good indicator of power particularly terminal speed.

What were your times and what were you expecting? An AU XR6 VCT should do high 15 to low 16 sec 1/4. Remember the VCT sedan is 150kg heavier than an AU sedan because of the independent rear end. To make up for the extra weight the VCT would need to put out abou 178fwkw to match an AU X66HP.

Re: Casper Mobile is going on the Dyno

yeah, it's not just a gut feeling otherwise I wouldnt bother. The best I could run at Heathcote was a 16.89 and even with the hot weather it should have been a 16.1 or 16.2 at worst. Most of the runs I did were 17's plus.

Thanks for the graph.
