Well i have finally got around to convert my EA falcon from CFI to MPI. I got the parts off sundeep. The car hammers now!!!!, best bang for your buck mod you could do. Took 2 full days to get everything right, reused my CFI dizzy as the MPI one had a worn bush and was causing a rough idle. Runs perfect and also changed the injector power supply to feed off the ECU relay. I found when using the fuel pump relay to power the injectors the car turned over a few times before start as opposed to the correct way from the ECU relay which starts first turn every time. Here is a pic of the finished product.
It wasn't easy but not impossible, lost a bit of bark off the hands. You need a good set of tools and all the right parts. A timing light also comes in handy. All up with the parts, new gaskets and heater hoses it came in around $300. Which isn't bad for a 20kw gain.
Just started the car this morning at 4degrees ambient temp and it started first turn and idled so perfect I couldn't beleive it. The old CFI setup would always stall, turn over a few times then idle rough.
Congratulations Luke, an extremely worthwhile upgrade. Not only do you gain the benefits that you mentioned, but a whole world of possibilities for future upgrades.
I didn't realise CFI had the same starting characteristics as carburettors. My MPI cars start perfectly no matter what the weather, whereas starting my dad's carby Toyota in the cold is a huge effort.

My car had the same problem as yours before we converted to MPI. You would have to crank it over like 4 times then stop, then another 2 and it would start but take a few seconds to idle properly. With MPI it starts first time, every time no matter what. Now it's on gas it takes a little more effort to wake it up in the mornings but 108km from $5 isn't bad either
Sorry about the dizzy :o( Seems you and I both got ripped.
Congrats, it's a very worthwhile mod even if you leave it stock. By the way, my car always started perfect with CFI, I don't understand what you guys are on about?
