CFI - MPI Dizzy conversion?
G'day guys,
I have posted below NZ's summary on doing this conversion. OK can handle that bit. But now does the TFI point towards the front or the rear. I would assume that if this is now a direct copy of an MPI dizzy it would go towards the front...........er maybe? Apparently its supposed to be 60 degrees round from centre of rocker cover. Is this correct? While the CFI one is supposed to 30 degrees round from centre of rocker cover but starting from the rear. Any clarification to clear this up greatly appreciated.
I've read most of the CFI - MPI conversion posts and so am just about ready to go where angels fear to tread. Wish me Luck, Oh by the way I will attempt to document the whole affair utiling the KISS principle.
Many Thanks Guys
Glenn
"Ok here is a very quick summary.
Take out the dizzy.
Remove the rotor and base
Punch out the dowel in the shaft that holds the gear on.
Pull the shaft out.
Put the rotor back on.
Looking at it from above youll see there is 6 vanes.
Mark the one thats almost in line with the rotor as #1.
Mark the rest, 2,3,4,5,6 going clockwise.
The 3rd vane is smaller than the rest on the MPI dizzy.
The 3rd vane is the signiture vane and is 8mm wide. The rest are 14mm wide.
The 3rd vane needs to be filed down (or ground) from the 4th vand side.
This will leave a gap of 17 mm between the 2nd and 3rd vane and a gap of 23mm on the 3rd - 4th vane"
