got a leak but dont know where its coming from it comes out at the back of the engine when i look up from under car i can see some coolant over the lip of the sump, right at the back on drivers side. any ideas??

my guess is that it is a welsh plug with a corroded/rust hole in it. they are at the back/underneath of the engine, and is a common problem with all cars.

the welsh plugs are there as blockages for the moulding holes when the engine was moulded into shape.

if u replace one, just be careful that you dont knock in into the waterjackets. :)

oh o i took off heat shield and remnants of leak are coming from above welch plug where block meets the head :(( wot do i do, its a minor leak and the coolant and oil look in good shape its a EF

If it's just weeping, use some Bars-Leaks tablets, that stuff works and won't clog anything up, or Silver Seal, that stuff is supposed to be pretty good too. Best to stop it now before it gets any bigger. (As the Bishop said to the actress).

Common cause for coolant leak that far back on the engine is a broken head stud. You will be up for a new headgaket at the least. Don't bother with bars leaks etc. it's definately going to get worse.
