Hey all,

Does anyone think this possible? If so tell me how!!!!!!!!

A few criteria:

1. Must be auto
2. Must not rev past 2500 at 100kph
3. Must be naturally aspirated (and no nitrous)
4. Must be 6 cylinder

Car is an au

I dont really think I could do it, but I wanted your thoughts....

Despite the crap Jim has been receiving, the DEV5a is MEANT to get you into the 14's, and thats $5000 or so, so I dunno how you're gonna cut out an extra second, for an extra grand, and there aren't many other things you can modify (as far as I know) than what Jim would change. Maybe you could get the engine rebuilt, but I'm not sure what they would do too it, too manage that.

Weight reduction would work.. how do you feel about removing everything not required too run the vehicle? You don't need seats and doors and safety features too drive, do you?

TQE, SWB, ATPS, Worst of the E-series.. and I wouldn't have it any other way

13 sec will require a fairly moderate amount of rwkw's.

4.0L and a 1400kg car, with an auto, and N/A, i dont think you could get close to that figure you will need to crack 13's, especially without a short diff ratio and a very agressive hi-stall.

You need to force feed it, and you need at least 3.9's and a 2500 - 3000 hi-stall to reach those figures, i could be wrong, but i have a feeling it will cost you a lot more than 6k to try get it pulling those figures N/A, and even then you might still be dissapointed.

not for 6 grand no way no how. Best way to get any where near the horse power together is to go turbo or supercharge. Either way you box won't last 3 runs without a fair wack of that 6g on stronger parts.
If you want 13's sell the AU and get a turbo import.
Other wise spend real doe to get real times.

I'd do:
3.9 LSD diff
2700 rpm stall (you can still the lock-up for the highway)
shift kit from herrod.
you can buy the DEV5a head and Cam with the all the bits you need to fit it from JMM for $2000 + his exhaust for another $900.
that's about $5000.....
I donno if that would crack 13s but it would be close.....

the only real answer is NOS....a nice 125hp hit of it...

Dave.

Id say you could do it, but heres a list of things that would need to go

Seats
Door trims
Carpet
Sound deadening
Front swaybar
Stereo
Aircon
Bumpers
Sun visors
Door and rear vision mirrors
Side glass
Side impact bars
Glovebox
Centre console
Lights
Lightweight front wheels (drag runners)

This I reckon could bring it down to less than 1350kg with driver.
To run ~100mph traps (good enough for high 13s) with that weight you would need at a minimum of 180kw, say 200kw for good measure.

Both of the above would be achievable for less than $6k.

I think a Jim Mock car has run as quick as a 14.2 (5speed EF with DEV5) not sure of the mph, whether it had slicks, or how much weight reduction it had.
To drop those 2 tenths youd need to loose around 100kg of weight.

Im sure it can be done, but I doubt without some significant weight reduction.

dont forget JMM stuff is designed to run with a stock comp, better gains could be achieved by using a chip as well.

get your engine rebuilt with an ACL race series rebuild kit, get it all balanced etc, get the head ported big time and get a custom cam, bigger than DEV 5, use XR6 valves (they are 2mm bigger than stock i think) and get a chip to make it all work, plus a fairly high stallie, 2700 or higher? 3000rpm? set it all up so it makes peak power right up near the redline and then cross your fingers, you might have to loose some weight from the car as well.

joe (gm destroya) is building up a very highly worked EA turbo at the moment, the shop he is getting eveything machined has ported out an AU head to flow 370hp for him, and he is getting a cam that holds 14" of mercury at idle (below what a stock comp will run) it is a custom grind for turbo application, but im sure the shop could help you out with a N/A cam that will be as good or better for N/A.

i think that the porting he has had done would be about $1k labour to anyone else, they are using his head as a test and developement one.

you might be able to do it, but bidget a lot of dyno time and you will definately need a big stallie.
