hey there is anyone able to tell me what the hell my baby is doin, recently the car justed started to run like poo and my dash lights were flashing on and off, no tacho, no speedo, no anything and battery light was on. This is what i did degresed the engine bay. Since then I have put on new coil pack leads and plugs as the coil pack was all the engine dramas, battery light remains on, dash still an issue, now it runs well and took it for a drive car just limped around and the dash lights flashed with the indicators and then i saw smoke come from engine bay so went home to see smoke coming from alternator but it was more like steam and smoke together, is the alternator shagged and are the processors in my dash shagged and is the tranny in limp home mode, need a bit of guidence please. projectef

Sounds to me like you soaked your electrics. If you used a pressure cleaner to clean the degreaser off you may have flooded your dissy cap (ive done it myself). Pop the cap off and inspect for water/ water damage.

Id run the self test as its good at picking out electrical problems.

due to whnaty you have said i suggest you are talking bout a ef i6 and when you changed the coild packs i rekon you have knocked the charge wire on your alternator i would be checking that also check the trigger wire on the alternator cheers!
