new xf

May be a stupid question, but are all tappet covers from the crossflow sixes the same and therfore interchangable?

I'm thinking a cast alloy one on my old 4.1 crossflow, instead of the tin one, may stop my leak problems.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Firstly, does your have a gasket? If not, fit a new gasket. I dont believe you need to change covers unless its damaged somehow.

all interchangeable...
the alloy was introduced to act as a heatsink and to reduce rocker noise.
soak the paper gasket in engine oil before installing it and it should never leak.
But the alloy cover does not have the bracket for the air filter box, as on the carb models as it was only fitted to the EFI engines.
