Crow Cam dyno result

Well I finally got around to getting my Crow Stage 2 cam set up, as it was giving me a bit of grief. I bit the bullet and purchased the adjustable vernier gear and got F1 Performance to install it and dyno it. The results:
Before vernier gear, but with the cam in as I had installed it: 108 rwkw
After install of vernier gear and advancement of timing: 118.5 rwkw

I am pretty happy with this result as I have been told that the dyno dynamics dyno that F1 uses is fairly accurate.
What have others got with a similar setup to mine?

Re: Crow Cam dyno result

That sounds pretty accurate. Good to see a before and after as well. What sort of dollers did you spend on it?

Re: Crow Cam dyno result

Sounds pretty good.
Looks like the adjustable gear is worth it.

Re: Crow Cam dyno result

hi

good to see those great gains

the dev 3 from the mocks is pulling about 125 to 130 rwkw with similiar mods and cars have been dynoed at other places including herrods which also got 130rwkw with the dev3, the kit is around 2000 dollars

just curious what did you pay all up for your mods?

thanks

Re: Crow Cam dyno result

Crow cams are about $390. adjust gear is ~$100. Dunno about install, etc.

Have a thread going about cams here CAMS, what to get??

alot of that 10kw extra could be contributed to the timing advance,
ill get some dyno results tommorrow afternoon,
im getting my timing advanced safely on a dyno too.

and see how the new cam goes, see if it really makes power at 5500prm

could u feel the extra power it makes? like revs better due to optimised timing

Re: Crow Cam dyno result

Has anyone put a vernier cam gear on a standard XR 6, with standard cam, and see if any adjustment alters power.

Re: Crow Cam dyno result

The engine definately revs better due to the optimised timing and it has noticably more power in mid range and top end.
As for prices for my mods here goes, see how it stacks up against the mock prices.
XH Air intake: $30
K&N Panel filter: $129
Genie extractors: $420
Redback 2.5 inch exhaust: $280
Cam and adjustable gear: $525
Install and dyno tune: $290
Total: $1674

Overall I guess that isn't too bad for about a 20 rwkw increase over the standard engine, although to get any more power I would have to get into head work and then the $ would really start flowing.
I think my money would be better spent on a T5 conversion and a 3.45 diff.
What would other people recommend as the next modification, apart from forced induction!

Re: Crow Cam dyno result

Do you have any revving problems at idle when the car is warmed up ?
