Ea - cop version

hey i just recently bought an ex cop Ea (manual of course)... it has been having over heating problems and idling inconsistancies (dipping down under normal rev point) . I found an exterior coolant leak from the main raditior hose to the head but with no signs of oil.
I then replaced the oil and cleaned up the engine bay to check for any other leaks and i couldnt see anything. The only other oil i could find was on the back of the head with my hand and there might have been some fresh oil, im not sure. Does anyone think it has a blown head gasket?
Can anyone tell me how i can check if it is has and if so how hard it would be to do - cheers

Re: Ea - cop version

Thread moved to engine tech. I guess obvious things is check for coolant in the oil, do a compression check.

Also try searching on past posts on this subject.

Steam in the exhaust?
What colour are the plugs?
How about the oil colour, is there any oily scum in the radiator?
