confused ea-ef complete motor

I have picked up an ef motor minus air con ,starter ,computer.
from what i have read on the various threads alot of this conversion has been covered but any advise/help would be appreciated.so here goes.

ef's have the coil pack which i was going to change to the el dizzy and wiring loom, at the same time remove the cam angle sensor and also fit the el coil.

I am going to run the bbm manifold which I have the details on the conversion from other threads.

will also get the ef/el airbox and the better snorkel.
I have to fit thermo fans and the switching kit .
I will be keeping my 4spd auto (for now anyway)

I will probbly get the el computer and wiring loom although most of the ef loom came with it, what computer numbers will i need? .

Have I missed anything . Please feel free to step in and tell me if there is anything eles you can think of.

Re: ea-ef complete motor

Will need Smartlock to run the El computer, consider either the EL or an EB serII dash....

Thanks mongrelEB I am off to see a hopefully friendly wrecker 2 moro and will try to get an eb II dash (hopefully the sports type like my ea one) and everything else.
Will the EB series II dash fix the smartlock problem or do I have more work to do with it.?
thanks Alex

Re: ea-ef complete motor

Cheers :) Yep the dash comes with the Smartlock module, however you will have to add the wire to the computer plug if you keep the EA computer loom.
If you're going to use the EL loom, on the other hand, it may well be easier to fit the EL dash and rear body loom than make the EB dash fit the EL engine bay loom.

Re: ea-ef complete motor

Does the ignition barrell have to be used (can I still use my old one) or is it there hidden away and wired to confuse the smartlock?

Went to see the wrecker today I got a dizzy from an EF yes you read right, dash cluster from an EL, coil from an EL, I have the choise of a loom from either EL or ED (will go el) and he is getting me a computer for an EL. the wrecker also has a EF comming in on monday complete and still running so will keep fingers crossed that is a dizzy model and transfer everything in one go

Re: ea-ef complete motor

Nope. Must get ignition barrel + keys to suit. A Smartlock barrel will have 4 extra wires coming out of it.....

I thought that as well but in fords attempt to use up old parts or use new ones when they run out,as they are changing models and we end up with alot of that as our new models are always at least 6 months behind the aus ones.
