Firstly, does anyone know what year/model first came out with the larger exhaust valves? Was EL XR the first?
the eb xr had larger exhausy valves over standard (41 vs 39mm) all xr's from eb-el series 2.5 has the 11/32 vlave with the 41mm head on them.

Also, can anyone suggest any brands of stiffer valve springs for the EA-L heads.
the valves new from ford are 270 odd buck when i bought mine (althought they were au xr items) and you cant buy aftermarkets either :(. the seat grinding would be round 15-35 bucks per valve (shop around)

i have never heard this before, it may be posible, but i doubt this as the sohc has a unique spring height. if ur chasing springs i can supply some for 270 with retainers (not exact figure but is ball park)

Re: EA-L Cylinder Heads
it would require machining to fit.
the i6 has a different valve length to any other ford, stupid sohc grrrrr. lol
ur only real option is to run the xr exhaust valves
i went straight to an au head for the 7mm valve stems in them unlike the 11mm in the ea-el models, they flow so much better plus the au head dosnt have the ugly valve bosses in the head. and be ported to make good gains.
and they seal so much better round no 6 as well
we are offering 1400 bux exchange for a reco au head ported to flow 360hp
cheers.joe.

Re: EA-L Cylinder Heads
yep, i have 3 fellas (all worked in parts shops) running round looking for aftermarket valves (in el xr so still had the 11/32 type valve and the au 7/32). 0.050 o/s would take the valve up to xr spec on the exhaust side.
150 for all 12 valves eh? DAMN thats a god price, where did you get them?
thats good going.
cheers.joe.

I'm not to interested in the Au head for a few reasons.
Firstly, I will need to change my cam, as well as my newly installed EL rocker gear, so thats $600 wasted if I go the AU head.
Also, the EB head flows 330HP out of the box. I do porting myself, so with the XR exhaust valves, and cleaned up ports I can have an EB head flowing around the 350 hp for way under $1500.
Do you have part numbers for Vlave springs ebs_4l?
Thanks fellas!

Re: EA-L Cylinder Heads
you can still run the ea-el cams in them just use the ea-el rockers with the au head.
and the eb xr head is the one that flows 330 straight out the box, ur best starting point is the ef head, the eb head dosnt have as much potential as the ef and newer heads

Rollin and I tried unseccessfully to fit an ED cam to an au head using ED and EF rocker gear and it ticked like crazy. Crow sent me the wrong part for my xh ute which runs an au head so i tried to fit it anyway using some ed and ef gear but it didn't work.
Whats it mean when a head will floow to x amount of hp?
Is that the potential flow if u do up the engine?
Im looking at eventually getting 150-200 kw at the rears, so what should my head be flowed to? (yet to decide to go turbo, or do a n/a build up to 160ish rwkws)
