i have an eb wagon that has been driven into the ground for the last 400000k and is desperatley needing a rebuild/replace on the engine and gearbox. i was wondering if anyone can tell me what other models engine/gearbox would fit into a 92 eb wagon 4.0l ?

Depends how much work you want to do and how much you really want to replace.

EF engine and gearbox, AU engine and EF gearbox, all possible, so what budget do you have in mind for a start.

Basically put, anything E series is do-able without too much hassle.

budget is extremely limited will do whatever work is needed was looking at buying a written off vehicle at auction would prefer to replace as i need the vehicle off the road as short a time as possible and pretty much everything on the car is pretty well F.U.B.A.R
in fact for a car that is as buggered as my eb it goes supprisingly well

by buggered i mean just about everything under the whats left of the paint on the roof is in serious need of major work

May I suggest a 5.0 powerplant?

A replacement EBII-ED 4.0 would be the best way to go methinks, or reconditioning the existing engine.

id go a LATE ed motor if u are after easyness... They run an ef style head, 94da, and will go right in.... with NO mods required.

or ef motor if u want to to a lil grinding and change the balancer..... if u but wrech u could use all the ef bolt ons and run thermo fans
