I got a 91 3.9l EB It runs great for a while then all of a suden looses all power (like will only do 10ks per hour) it farts and pops then sudenly goes back to normal . I changed the ignition controll module as i was told that would do it it has not fixed the problem i also got told to change the fuel filter i have done that ( think it was the one that cam from factory lol) but that did not fix the problem. I have been browsing through forums for ideas all night but i cant find anything can anyone point me in the right direction (or any direction which may be helpfull to look :) )

This thing has me stuffed as i said before any help would be more than appriciated

Cool thanks i will go buy a coil 2morow is there any point in getting a preformance coil is is there no diffrence. I have checked the grouning / connections on everything (except under the dash. I will try the coil thanks

Could be the TPS or something, causing it to overfuel/run lean?

hi all
today i replaced the coil and it has made no diffrence . the problem seems to occur once it has run for 5 - 10 mins and is getting progresivly worse i cant even drive it anymore it stugles to do 10 k's per hour most of them time then all of a sudden it kicks in to life. it runs hell rough and stalls if you tkae your foot off the excellerator. any other ideas. please ........

does it make a difference when u take the vaccum hose off the map sensor?

try map sensor,try and borrow one out of another car EA to AU to check, it is located on the passenger side firewall. Two mins to screw off and just plug the new test one in to check if it makes a diff. Mine ran shithouse and I did the diagnostic test with a multimeter as per the manual which showed it was slightly off. Bought a secondhand one for $10 and fixed. I think $30 for a working 2nd hand is reasonable. New one cost $150 plus.
