ALL EB1's had the 3.9. CFI was standard (except for fairmont ghia and above), whilst MPI was optional. ALL EB1's were either 4spd auto or 5spd manual (the 4spd was introduced with the EA2).
As stated earlier, the 4.0 wasn't introduced until the EB2.
