i got my eb xr6 dnyo'd today, i had the timing advanced 18 degrees from TDC OED666 recomended it so its now 6 degrees above stock, and its pullin 172rwhp @ 4712rpm with a stuffed fuel regulator and auto computer, what ya think?

well its not stuffed, its just the auto comp i got in it still, its making alot of stuff play up, getting a proper manual comp soon, do u think 18 degrees advanced is to much for an EB XR6???... the guy that did it said it wasnt pinging..
any help much appreciated,

As long as its not pinging you are okay, just keep listening for pinging especially on hot days or when going up hills etc. If it starts to ping turn it bavk 2 degrees.
yeah, you will hear it, distinctive rattle -may also feel it hesitating a bit if its bad enough, but 18deg is about spot on... unless you have higher than normal compression, eg. i rebuilt my motor and ended up with 10.4:1, now can only run roughly 12-13deg, but its got more balls...
