I just got my car back from a new mechanic i have tried whos supposed to be briliant with fords.
Anyway after the service when i picked up my car he says to me it has no power on take of compared to all the other eb xr's he does.
He said which could be my exhaust setup or the timing beibg out cause i know the car has had a headgasket replaced at some stage.
The exhaust is as follows lukey extractors into standard cat then 2.5 inch pipe into a hot daog then into a esa spoprts muffler and the pipe is 2.5inches all the way and i also have a ram pod on the car.
To me the car always felt slugish on take off even before i modified it.
Its also got a new dizzy cap rotor button leads and plugs.
any help greatly appreciated.

It could be the bush on the dizzy is flogged out ..Did he even check the timing or just blame that? If the bush is worn the dizzy wont hold it settings

as above - make sure the timing is good - 12 degrees if you run normal ULP, and up to 16 if you only run ultimate (i run 16 degrees and it pings on optimax occasionally - Ultimate is the way to go)

is the cat modified in any way? ie the ends cut off so its 2.5" the whole way through? if its the stock diameter its not helping your cause.

and a crow vernier gear for like $160 or something and some dyno time would also be of benifit.

i dunno bout the cat rollin but i know he checked the timing and said it was spot on i know when i had my dizzy cap and rotor button replaced they set the timing but i dunno if he re-checked it but he says it might be out on the cam sprocket.

Loss of power down low.

It could be a number of things. Have you run it on the dyno to see how it runs?

What's the k's on it?

I'd look at mixtures, timing when driving (could be the curve), is the cat new? If not the gut may have collasped.

How do the plug's look?

Is your ram pod clean, in a good spot not sucking hot air.

My opinion with ram pods are only good for turbos.
But more likly to be exhaust set up, if original cat it may have shit its self.
But in saying that a high flow cat will do no difference in perfomance if stock cat is good.
