Hopefully someone may have some thoughts on this......
Car working perfect.
Take off from intersection under reasonable acceleration, small under bonnet backfire and coughing, so i switch off ignition pretty quick so i dont blow the crap out of the airflow meter or something.
Then i go to restart and it just turns over with intermittent firing, nowhere near enough to start.
So i push car home (and nearly die)
I pulled off lead two and stick a plug in. No spark. Keep cranking and all the sudden it tries to fire up ( intermittent strong spark)
Reattach lead and car starts. Idles OK but any amount of acceleration and it misfires badly and smell fuel from exhaust.
So i let it idle for about 20 seconds then try to rev it again and it just stalled and wont start.
I figure this is probably dizzy related more so than anything else(maybe coil, but so sudden?), my dad tells me these dizzys die regularly.
Also check the battery terminals, they can cause some weird shit if they are corroded.

replace the coil and check the distributer gears...sure check the battery connections...but if it idles and doesnt run...u may havea tooth or two broken off the timing chain gear...play with the timing as well...my car had similar problems...i replaced the coil and it still wouldnt run....my timing was advanced waaaaaaaay to much....sounds likea timingproblem of somesort though...but i would still replacethe coil...if u had a carb then i would suggest a few other things but not much can go wrong with a throttle body...

might even be just the dizzy cap and rotor i think... i had the same problem, replaced these for about 15 bucks from kmart and all was good again... spark wasnt coming across strong enough the whole time
