I'm looking seriously at a column shift EF wagon.

Damn thing has pretty much everything i'm looking for EXCEPT it's a bloody column shift.

I guess I can live with the column/bench setup but would much prefer a bucket/floor combo.

From what I understand the floor pans between floor and column shift cars are different, so it's not just a matter of cutting a hole in the floor for the T-bar and bolting in a set of bucket seats.

Questions:

1. Is this floorpan issue for real? Or have I been collecting false info?

2. If the floorpans ARE different, what options could I look at? Buckets from another car/aftermarket manufacturer? Maybe a B&M shifter? Will a Ford console still fit?

3. Can the foot 'hand' brake be converted to a 'hand' hand brake?

I have done it, it is possible but you need the a floorpan section from the t-bar..

You only need to cut the hole and weld the t-bar floor sectioon over top of your coluumn floor
A few reasons
1. for the selector hole
2. for the re-inf panel that you mount the centre console to
3. The raised re-inf panel to locate and fit the floor mounted h/brake
4. The inner seat bolt mounting points as they are raised (side closest to the tunnel)

Gear selector linkages
H/Brake and cable
Console
Seats

handbrake and cable
It is not hard just oxy out the trans tunnel and a few extra inches from a wreck

You will also need:-
Upper steering wheel fascia
A few E-series lads are buying wrecks and would have no need for the section of floor you need, Large-Trout is one I know has a wreck for sure, search and you might get most of the bits for next to nothing

im also guessing an engineers certificate will be required as well. column shift aint that bad especially if its auto. extra room for the missus to 'lay down' if you know what i mean
