EF Cruise Control Problems

Hi guys,
lastnight the cruise stopped working out of now where. Turned itself back on, and then died again, and wornt work at all now. U can turn it on, but it wont set the speed.

This morning i started the car and walked around the back, and noticed the brake lights on, and this has led me to believe it might be something to do with the brake switch? And i know the cruise is hooked up to that to disengage.. So yeah,

I have replaced the brake switch twice in the last 6 months, but when it died, the brake lights didnt work. This time the brake lights are on when im not braking.

If any one has some ideas, it would be much appreciated.
Any one played with the cruise , and has some tips?

Re: EF Cruise Control Problems

the brake lights being on is deffinately the cuase.
the cruise module detects 12v or 0v from the brake light curcuit which determines if the cruise should be switched off or not.
Sounds like the switch is sticking :/

Re: EF Cruise Control Problems

Yep definatley the brake switch causing the probs there.

It might have adjusted itself so now its in constant contact with the pedal.

Give it a few turns back and see how it goes. (thats if the switch is mounted the same as the XF is, which I suspect it will be)

Do I really have to write something funny in here?
