Hey,
I got a EF Fairmont Auto and it didnt idle and was stalling all the time, So i had the TPI thingy changed and it was ok but now its doin it again and the TPI is a week old.
What else should i check on this car to work it out./
Thanks
Oh btw we changed the fuel filter and it had black fuel in it so im thinking the tanks dirty aswell, how can i clean inside the fuel tank?
There is also a fuel filter on the pickup in the tank. If the fuel was really dirty, I would guess that would also be clogged up. To clean out the tank, I would drop the tank out and flush it out.
Also could be electrical. Check the spark plugs and also the leads. Also could be the coil packs. Has it been tuned recently.
Hey,
HAd my car looked at today and they replaced the computer and now its like a brand new car so all is good now :D
I was quoted $1250 for a new computer last week thats why i didnt bother trying it but dad got me a brand new one for $400 plus they give ya $200 back when ya give them the old computer so for $200 im laughing :D
I ran a dual fuel EL, and the carbon deposits that accumulate in the intake runner etc is quite large. Thank the LPG as the intake runner was never designed to operate on "wet" fuel, just to channel air. Remove the throttle body and give it a good clean taking care to remove(and mark the position) of all electric bits (TPS, ICS etc). Also, if your car has'nt had a Dizzy(and/or ignition module) changed, then get ready. More often that not, erratic stalling, and starting problems are a sign that the ignition module( and the dizzy) are in the way out. If your car runs the coil packs, check the crank angle position sensor, and check for any dirt build up etc. Good luck!
