My smart lock remote seems to only work when i'm very close to the car. I've changed the battery the other day hoping it was just a flat battery. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where the antenna is for the smart lock keyless entry system (on the vehicle). other then that or a broken remote, what else could affect the range?
seems to be a lot worse on the right hand side of the car
Cheers

not too sure on where the antenna for smartlock is, mine does it too sometimes and although it looks and sounds stupid, i find if i stick my remote above my head (so reach up with it), and point it at the car on a downwards angle, it works HEAPS better. however i dont always do it cos it looks quite strange lol.
Rockerfella, wreckers should be able to help you out. Failing that, youre looking at paying around $100 or so each from Ford.

If you have the owners manual, it tells you how to re-code the remotes.
As long as your battery is charged. Recoding them often helps increase the range.
Im lucky to work at a car yard, so we have 1000's of left-over keys for all kinds of cars.
If you know anyone at a car yard, Theres a good chance they can pinch u a remote from there "spare key" drawer.
P.S. Sedan remotes do work on wagons. And vice versa. Although wagon remotes will not open the boot of sedans. And when u press the boot button if u own a wagon, the blinkers just flash, and nothing happens. So there must be no difference between sedan and wagon body ecu's
1. Ensure Ignition Switch is in the OFF Position.
2. Turn the Key to Accessories Position.
3. Within 5 Seconds, depress the Demister Button exactly 3 times.
4. The Door Locks will change state.
This indicates the Smartlock System is in Learn Mode.
All previous Keypad Codes have now been erased.
5. Press any Button on the Keypad.
The New Code will be learnt and the Door Locks will change state twice.
This indicates the Keypad (Maximum of 4 Keypads) has been trained.
(All Keypads must be trained at the same session)
6. Once all the Keypads have been trained;
Turn the Ignition Key to either the Ignition or OFF Position.
The door locks will change state once.
(This indicates that the vehicle is now in normal mode)
