Ef Xr6

I got a price today from Crow Cams for a new cam for my EF XR6.
It was about $390 , The lady said that using the standard computer and exhaust it would boost it to about 120 kw at the wheels. Would this be true ? I guess the only way would be to to a dyno b4 and after ! However this could be a costly mod if it is not that much of an increase. Call me naive but i will probably do it without the results becasue modding the car is too much fun. What are your experiences with cams for xr6's

Also Mick Webb SVO said he would fit it for $100 , was he being serious ? i thought it would be more labour then that. However my mate said something bout it being an overhead cam and not to difficult. Anyway thanks your opinions are welcomed.

I always thought that an XR6 already gave near that 120kw figure in standard form. The normal I6 gave about 105kw. So the upgrade for an XR is bugger all, but the standard engine is a fair bit.

Last time I looked on the Crow Cam website, they stated that they got really good gains for the I6 engine, but not anything noticable for an XR6. They say the XR cam is already tuned as good as possible that they cant do much with an aftermarket cam.

For the money youd prob be better looking at an exhaust, headers or intake mods. Adding the AU XR8 intake snorkel is a worthwile mod for only $30. Tryed it on my wheels and it did make a noticable difference, little more power, more go above 3000rpm and heaps smoother to boot.

hey all,
The standard 6 makes about 100rwkws (mine pulled 98rwkws, but it's pretty tight, old-man-driven) and the XRs make 110rwkws.....if I were you I'd go with Jim Mock, his cams cost the same and he quotes much high figures. I've personal seen the specs of the Crow cam and it's nothing special, it basically just a "tow" cam....anyhoo that's my 2c

go see mocky man, don't even worry about crow's.
i got a dev 4 and it kicks!
150 at the wheels on a dyno other than mocky's so i was pretty happy with that

From everything that I have read on this Forum, it appears that it is a simple task to change cams. Previous to this I was given information that it wasnt advisable to change cams on the 4.0L OHC engine, was this crap info.....

Is there anything you have to do to the ECU, or will it learn the new cam specs over time.....
